I was born August 27, 1952, to the parents of Judge/Attorney David H. Hood and Eula Bell Hood. David was a Howard Law graduate and stalwart in the Civil Rights Movement. Eula was an educator receiving her Master’s Degree from Tuskegee University.
I am married to Nailah Corliss Olufemi who I met while attending Alabama A & M University. I have two children, Jay and Marilyn, and three (3) grandchildren, Ethan, Austin and Mariano. My son in law is Edgar Acosta. I was a four year letterman at Alabama A&M in football and two year starter. My team sent John Stallworth to the Pittsburg Steelers, Ronnie Coleman to the Houston Oilers, and Oliver Ross to the Denver Broncos.

Yusuf began his practice in 1988 as a lawyer for Birmingham Area Legal Services. In 1990 he joined the firm of Newton & May practicing in the area of Criminal Law, Federal Practice, Bankruptcy and Personal Injury. In 1992, Yusuf opened his own office, The Law Center, returning home to Bessemer. Yusuf continued his practice in the areas of Civil and Criminal Law; Divorce Law, Bankruptcy, Personal Injury, School Board cases, and 1983 Claims. That most recently Attorney Olufemi had the privilege to Argue before the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals in a case Raising the Constitutionality of a Municipal Statute.
Yusuf is a member of Saint Peter the Apostle Church where he is a lector and usher.
